I was asking about lamictal success stories. I have been taking Xanax XR for about a year now to help me cope with my social anxiety...which stil exists, even though I'm at a very high dose of it. We believe it is because of my very recent diagnosis of BPII, and most of the anxiety occurs in social situations that get very happy and unpredictable, i.e. parties. That's when my depression from the BPII kind of reminds me, now now, you can't be happy...so i can't even smile, and I get very tense.
ANYWAY, like i said for the moment the adderall helps somehwat (while it's active only) with the depression, but we're hoping that the lamictal will solve both that problem and I'll be able to lower and eventually take away the xanax.
As to what dose am I shooting for, I have no clue. I'm a very big guy if that matters, almost 6'7", and tomorow I take my first 25mg dose. the past two weeks have been 17.5mg every other day, then daily. so we're starting VERY slow.
Finally, about the SSRI's, i've heard it's very helpful to add one with lamictal. Unfortunately this point is null for me because I have literally tried probably at least 10 different ones, each having either no or NEGATIVE effects even up to very high doses. I hope this doesn't lessen my chances for lamictal. I feel like it's my last hope....if this doesn't work all I can think of is MAOI's, but with my history of 100% non-success, I have to believe even that wouldn't work. cmonnnnnn lamictal. *knock on wood*

Hi, i take lamictal too. along w/ prozac and klonopin (had been on xanax for years) i have social phobia also and depression and panic disorder etc etc..but i am finally taking 300mg of lamictal now- you know how slow it is starting up. And once i hit that 300mg i felt better. Its basically just a matter of what dose works for you. (you will know) also, for social phobia, i find that klonopin has worked the best for me. xanax just stopped the panic attacks and paxil just made me fat.. :( but klonopin has really been a life saver for SP..you may want to look into that..
Good Luck,
Sandy

Besides making you "fat," was Paxil helpful?

As I said in my post, I have no 'target' dose for lamictal....I have no idea what dose will work for me.

Hey- it did actually help the first time i took it say 5 yrs ago. But i had a bad pdoc and ended up on every med under the sun, so one day i just quit cold turkey. Then, when it started back on meds it was with serzone, then celexa, effexor, zoloft, paxil and now prozac. But the second time around the paxil didnt work. for my SP now klonion seems to work better than paxil without the bad side effects...
