30 mg of Cymbalta for one month has alternated between making depression slightly worse, and helping a little bit. Side effect is nausea, combatted with ginger. Pdoc says adequate trial is 60 for at least 3 weeks. Is this others' experience? Also, how do you take your 60? Two 30 mg capsules or one 60? I tried 2 30 mg one day and got too nauseous to move so retreated back down to 30.
Also on 125 Lamictal, 50 mg Dexedrine, and xanax for sleep. If I can't handle the 60 Cymbalta, strategy is to add Prozac to bump up the serotonin, since Prozac has worked "better than nothing" various times before. Thanks!

In reply to Cymbalta - what is adequate trial?, posted by quarterwit on October 31, 2004, at 17:51:39
Give the 60mgs a month. If no results, then consider ditching it. I always give my ADs at least a month before I throw in the towel, simply because I really don't want to find myself down the road coming back to one that I've tried before only because I wonder if I gave it enough time to work. IMO, sometimes going an extra week or two beyond what you think may help ends up helping a lot more than you previously would have thought. I'm sure others here who have taken Cymbalta could advise you better. Also, try doing a search on Cymbalta, there have been a lot of threads discussing every aspect of it since it arrived to the market.
