Anyone ever heard of taking Ritalin "as needed" for ADD? My husband just got tested for a learning disability and the clinician said that he had some problems with wandering attention at times...I forget the term he used. He said my hubby could take the Ritalin that onlly lasts a few hours during the hours that he is in class or studying but that he wouldn't have to take it all the time. I had never heard of that. I have heard of taking meds just during the week and not on the weekend but not strictly PRN.

Sometimes stimulants are used as needed for ADD like symptoms. It could potentially reduce tollerance and other side effects.
