Effexor

Posted by lostinohio on October 25, 2004, at 12:26:42

I have only been on Effexor for about 3 months, and it seems OK. I can go from perfectly normal one minute to a devil the next. I have two small children and they think that I am CRAZY. I have lost about 15 pounds while taking Effexor, but I feel alot better than I did before I started taking it. I did forget to take it for the last two days and boy was that a mistake. I woke up last night pouring sweat from hot flashes, and today I feel very dizzy and nauseous. I feel that it is very hard to even breathe. I don't know if this is normal or not. HELP!!!

Hi, I'm on effexor too. It works well for my depression and anxiety. It has a very short half life (I think that's the term) so if you miss a dose your body tells you right away. It's important that you take it at the same time every day.
good luck,

Lots of people have similar effects when they miss a dose - you are totally normal! If you find that you get these effects often you could try switching to Effexor XR (or XL) which is the same drug with a longer half life - so it releases more steadily in your body, keeping an even amount of effexor in your blood stream throughout the day.
