After taking Risperidal, for bipolar, and developing severe parkinsonian and eps, including difficulty breathing, muscle weakness, and td like movements in my fingers, that went away after discontinuing the drug - I feel incredibly apathic even 3 weeks later. Most of the td-like movements are gone. I still get little dystonic jerks sometimes. Is the apathy due to D2 receptor upregulation? Is it permanent?
I was only on the medication 4 weeks, the 1st week was 1mg, the next 2 were 2mg, and the last was 3mg.Additionaly I was on a very low dose penothiazine to sleep.

>Hi:
I am sorry you have to go through so much suffering. You might want to try Zyprexa with an antidepressant. Best to get on this asap. Also, in the meantime, take some anti-cholinergic meds like Benadryl and possibly benzos like Xanax, and you should feel 100 percent better.
Best,
Jay

Would you happen to be able to provide me with a brief explanation of what's going on? Especially with regards to going on the Zyprexa.
This is the end of the thread.
