Need a quick reply! Vicodin + Doxepin???...

Posted by Colleen D. on October 3, 2004, at 19:56:27

I just took 2 vicodin for a pulled muscle in my back. Is it still okay to take my doxepin tonight for sleep, or should I skip it? Will vicodin make me sleepy?

Skip the doxepin or wait at least 4 hours

You would probably be just fine... just to be on the safe side I would be either:

a) Skip the doxepin and take another vicodin or two(which will sedate you).

- or -

b) Wait 4 or so hours, don't take anymore vicodin and then take the doxepin.

It is never a good idea to combine CNS depressant class drugs. Hope you get some rest!

Matt

Thanks, Matt! I'll take one more vicodin... ยป mattw84

Be really careful with the vicoden. Had a ligament tear, took it for pain...the entire weekend I was a disaster! I was spiraling into depression. I called my pdoc on Monday, she yelled at me about the vicoden, told me that opiates will cause that.

Did you ask your doc for a muscle relaxer? That will certainly help you sleep!
