In the past weeks I've noticed an increas in those "brain zaps" you ususally get when you withdrawl from and SSRI/SNRI,etc - but the weird thing is that I haven't changed meds - EXCEPT the addition of Mirapex 0.125mg at night. However, I wouldn't think the addition of Mirapex would cause brain zaps? or maybe it would? But the only time I've experienced the ZAPS are when I've gone off of SSRIs.
I mentioned to my pdoc but he says he's never heard of "brain zaps" nor has he heard that "complaint" from any other patient.
So - I don't know whether to be worried that I'm having small seizures and should see my Family Doc or wait to see if they go away after getting used to the Mirapex? (if the Mirapex is causing them?)
Frustrated and a little worried...any comments/advice/etc. greatly appreciated.
thanks
Jerry

The only time I ever had brain zaps was when I was on Nardil recently, and I didn't even realize what they were until I started to withdraw, and they became more numerous. A little light bulb came on, and I said to myself, "Oh, so that's what brain zaps are." I never experienced them during Effexor withdrawals, even though I did get the flu-like symptoms and tinnitus that are not uncommon withdrawal effects. I was getting the brain zaps on Nardil even at a steady 90 mg/day, this after increasing the dosage over a couple months from a starting point of 45 mg/day. I have no idea what the mechanism is behind them, but it seems hard to believe that your pdoc has never of brain zaps.
