Mirapex update

Posted by Emme on September 18, 2004, at 11:22:21

Hi All,

The good news: On a combo of Lamictal, a dash of a beta blocker, xanax, and a tiny amount of mirapex, I have greater mood control than I've had in probably a couple of years. I'm still somewhat depressed, still have bad days, and my mood is still easily destabilized. But really, it's much better than several months ago and my T perceives a huge difference. Everyone is happy about it.

The less-good news: I'm too tired. This has started in the last week and a half or so. Prior to that I'd been doing a lot and exercising a lot. My motivation has improved; I have mental interest in doing things. But now I don't have the physical energy to act on that interest. I don't know if this is an emerging problem after being on Mirapex for several weeks, or if it's exhaustion from stress. I don't seem to have the daytime sleepiness attacks that some people report. I could just sleep all the time and my body feels weak.

Comments?

Emme-

I just started Mirapex (.125mg at night). I was prescribed it for restless legs - but my pdoc hoped it would help with my anhedonia/motivation/etc. It's only been 3 days and I'm not sure I notice anything. I'm wondering if - from your experience - it takes a couple weeks to kick in or....? I've also notices more "brain zaps" since taking it - yo uknow those zaps you get when you go off an SSRI? same thing.

Anyway, ar eyou taking yoru Mirapex during the day? Once daily? I'm glad it seems to be helping you to some degree. Sorry for all the questions - I wish I could offer you more answers....

Thanks!
Jerry

Give it some time. I noticed a little improvement relatively quickly. But it seems to have increased somewhat with time. And it will give you a chance to see if any initial side effects go away.

No brain zaps. Your use of the work "more" suggests you were having them beforehand? Are you coming off an SSRI or Effexor?

Once in the morning.
Good luck. I hope it is helpful for you. Give us an update.

Emme-

Yeah- now that I think about this, I guess I have been having these zaps before the Mirapex. But I'm not going off any SSRI, etc. That's the weird part.

As for the Mirapex - I have no side effects. It made me a little sleepy at first, but now I can't even tell when I take it (side effect wise).

Jerry
