ok all....i need help

Posted by toughgirl on September 9, 2004, at 13:00:21

I have been on lexapro for a a week and a half and right away I started feeling really good. I had a ton of energy, I could get up in the morning, and I didnt snap at people whenever they said or did anything. My problem is, I have noticed that things seem to be going backwards. I am getting irritated againg and dont know why. I have had some problems at work and I may have to switch jobs soon. I was wondering if just the stress is taking the effects of the lex away. Thanks for listening and I would appreciate any feedback that anyone can give me

i guess it could be a bunch of things. How are you sellping? What are you eating? What other meds or vitamins etc are you taking or not taking? Are there circumstances that would make anyone react that way? Sometimes a long walk can lower stress. Hope something here is helpful.

I guess I am just being a baby. I expected instant gratification and it isnt happening. This is the first time I have taken any meds and I am not on anything else. I guess I just have to give it some time. Thanks for listening and letting me know that I am not alone*S*

This could have something to do with esoteric psychopharmacological issues such as downregulation of receptors and may simply indicate that you've entered the next phase in the course of this drug's action. I would try to take this as a positive sign and bear up as best you can while giving the drug a chance to fully work.

Thanks. I just thought that the meds werent going to work. I still dont know but I have calmed down a bit and I am willing to try. Nothing can be worse than what i was feeling a few weeks ago. Thanks for your support. It helps to know that I am not the only one who is having difficulty dealing with things sometimes.

Hi Toughgirl,

Sounds like you need a doseage increase, this may happen again until you find the right doseage.

Cheers,
Paul.

Lex literature says it takes 6-8 weeks befor you should expect results for most people. A FEW who have posted here have almost instant success (stress few) it took me 9 weeks to tell it was working. Don't get impatient as it may take a few weeks to know. Also an increase may be in order if you feel like you are going backwards, as always discuss w/doc.

Best of luck!~~~8|8
