Hello, I was wondering if anyone else experienced agitation and impatience n short temper while starting effexor. I know im on 19 days in but i keep thinking WORK WORK. My anxiety is permanant, usually its when i have to go somewhere or when somethings worrying me but now its even when im sitting in my flat.
Does this bit pass? Ive asked doc for clonazepam but hes going tpo get advice on it, so thatl be another 2 wks as hes on holidy also.
Im drinking a few glasses of wine every other night to try n take the edge off it but it doesnt help that much.
Any advice??

Soudns liek akathisia to me... Do you have an internal restlessness and anxiety where no matter what you do, you simply cannot relax?? IF so, try reducing the effexor try a different SSRI. A benzo or a beta blocker can help too. Akthisia occurs in both SSRIs and anti psychotic medication. I've been through ti and it feels terrible.

thanks cp, well theres no chance of me changing anti ds as yet, my gp is away for 2 wks and he just doesnt seem that concerned anyway, i think i may have to change him. I really need someone who at least looks like they care, and will be more broad minded with medicine.
Yeh, the internal agitation sounds the same, although i can suffer this sometimes when im not taking anything. Il give it another 2 wks as i have just upped to 150, as 75 was doing nothing for depression.
And just hope my klonopin arrives tomorrow. Net ordered!!
Thanks again xxx

>Hi Carrijane,
I would go back to 75mg & prepare to swap to another AD. If you are still really agitated after 19 days, I would say it's never going to go away. I would try Zoloft or Lexapro.
Cheers,
Panda.
