Anyone had any good/bad experiences taking buspar alone? I've been put on it for anxiety... used to be on wellbutrin for over a year, started to get really anxious, then celexa then back to wellbutrin then lexapro and now just buspar... I was diagnosed by my primary as depressed because I was complaining of being so tired all the time, but no medial problems were found. Went off after 3 years since I don't think I'm really depressed, but I have do experience stomach anxiety -- was put on belladona (sp?) but it contains phenobarbital for my stomach, it didn't help and I didn't like taking it..
Lately, I've been feeling very edgy, agrivated at the smallest things, and I'm normally a pretty laid back person. I've been on the buspar for about a week and a half and off the lexapro for about 2 months.. Signs of depression comming back????

It takes 4-6 weeks to get the full effect of Buspar. It acts like a mild antidepressant with no sexual side effects. In fact, when I used it alone, that department was increased. I found the higher doses made me irritable 60 mg. Interestingly enough, I can take the 60 mg with Lexapro with no problem.
You can expect a dizzy like feeling with the initial onset of the med. I mean right after you put the pill in the mouth. Then there is the hunger that kicks in and it fades too. Again, those two symptoms are about 30 mins after taking the pill. If you have a tremor problem, it may worsen it. Other than that, I don't know of any other symptoms that I had. I didn't find the med that beneficial for my level of anxiety. I do like taking it with the Lexapro.

>It could be depression, Buspar is only a very mild drug compared to Lexapro & Celexa.
You say 'Stomach anxiety' & mention belladonna, can I assume that when you are anxious you get diarrhoea? Low dose amitriptyline taken at night would possibly be the best medicine for this.
