Aurorix ? weight gain

Posted by Cherrie73 on May 30, 2004, at 10:26:14

Hi everyone, just wanted some advice on weight gain, i have been taking ADs for over six yrs, started at 48kgs and now am 85kg (Not sure in pounds). I suffer from panic attacks, always woried that something is wrong with me, ironically i am a nurse!! And about 3 yrs ago from depression too. I have tried aropax (extreme lethargy), zoloft (didn't work for my anxiety), effexor(didn't work for anxiety either), cipramil(no effect on anx or dep), edronax (made anxiety unbearable), luvox (also made depression worse), prozac (extreme tiredness), and am now on aurorix (diff names in US sorry don't know them i am in Australia) have been on aurorix for about 21/2 wks,i have also been on weight watchers for a while, really embarrassing when your going the wrong way most of the time!! i am at my wits end and my dr doesn't know what else to try! I would be grateful for any input on the aurorix, or advice on anything gratefully accepted!!
Cherrie

Here's a link to something I just found about this subject. I hope it helps.

Is aurorix moclobemide/manerix?

I'd also be interested to find out more about this med.

Anybody out there know if it causes weight gain?

What dosage are you taking and have you found any relief yet?

I would say that manerix is one of ADs that does not cause any weight gain, actually it can make you lose some. It stopped my bulimia binges completely, so I would say it is really effective curbing your cravings.
Makes life wonderful being able to eat so little. Unfortunaly I was not able to take manerix for long due to insomnia.

Thanks for your replies, i am taking 150mg twice daily. I think it is starting to work quite well now, but i still get those weird little electric shock like feelings when i move my head too fast every now and then, but that was mainly when i was withdrawing from paroxetine to start moclobemide but still happens occasionally, is that common for anyone else?
