I'm tapering off Effexor (300mg down now to 75mg) and my mind is getting quite fuzzy now. A lot of trouble concentrating. I have been chronically depressed for years, but Effexor was raising my blood pressure. Along with the Effexor, I was taking 50mg of Zoloft, to kick the Effexor into gear. I have returned to school at age 46, am a single mom, and also care for my mother, so my anxiety/stress has been off the charts the last year. The plan is to be off the Effexor in 2 more weeks and be taking 150-200/mg of Zoloft. My question: is there something else out there that will help me battle both the depression and the anxiety?

Zoloft worked fine for me for 4 years.
It handeled both anxiety and depression.
I only switched to Effexor because my motivation was gone. But Effexor didnt help that...so I probably should have stuck with Zoloft.
Thats my experience.

Prozac helped with tapering off of effexor and also gave me a feeling of well-being. I originally had GAD. John
