I want Prozac back so I want to make it a combo of Trileptal, 150 mg Wellbutrin XL and 10 mg Prozac. My question is this: is it ok to just add Prozac now? Is it better to add Wellbutrin while on Prozac, or better to add Prozac while on Wellbutrin, or does it not matter? I was confused on this topic about whether it is okay to add Prozac to Wellbutrin. This is an issue of order of going on it. This is the major issue for me and the only hold up to going back on Prozac.

Doug Saving The Team,
I can't answer your question, and I think that your Psychiatrist is the best person to answer that question. Not only would they consider the drug interactions, but also, what is right for you.

One risk in increasing the number of antidepressants in a bipolar patient is that they can trigger a manic episode, even with mood stabilizers.

I mentioned a psychiatrist because you say that you have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and now you are taking 2 psychiatric meds. Though many MD's prescribe antidepressants, most aren't as familiar as are psychiatrists with the meds that we are on. I hope that is where you are getting your psychiatric help.

I think, though I would have to look, that at one point I was on Prozac while at the same time that I was taking effexor. I have been on quite a few different meds, and all of them have their side effects. I don't know if you journal, but it can really help when you want to monitor your moods and medication effects and side-effects.

enough of a ramble....
Dee.

I was on a combo of Prozac and Wellbutrin and it worked well for a time. Effexor and Wellbutrin were also a good combo for a while. Of course, as someone put it on this board, check with your PDOC and individual mileage may vary. I did not take any other meds while on either combo.

PS - I've been diagnosed with bi-polar ii by some, major depression w/eating disorder by other and Borderling Personality Disorder by yet another PDOC. I haven't a clue which one is correct.
