Wouldn't seroquel antagonize the effects of ssris?
It is a 5-ht1a antagonist and the ssris work by stimulating this receptor so wouldn't it make the ssri not work as well?

I think you mean 5-HT2A antagonist. In theory it should mean that there is more serotonin for the other 5-HT recptors, but in reality I don't think it makes much difference. Extra serotonin available to the 5-HT1 receptors it thought to be the mechanism that gives SSRI's their postive effect.
