I've been on Wellbutrin SR and the XL. The XL caused me to feel dizzy 24/7, with the SR I'm finally getting out of the fog. Everyday I see improvement with my anxiety, depression and mood. I did experience agitation, bodyaches, joint pains especially in my shoulders, loss of appetite, anxiety, depression, moodiness, jitters, and headaches with the SR, but everyday I notice more of these side effects are subsiding. Today makes a week that I've been on Wellbutrin. I definitely am more motivated to exercise, go shopping, and many of the things that I use to do before getting on this antidepressant merry go round. I would not have thought that there would be a difference between the XL and the SR, but in my case it has been a big difference in how my body responds.
I really dislike posting the side effect that I've experienced with a medication, because we are all so different. Don't allow my list of side effects to prevent you from trying Wellbutrin.
Please post on your response.
God Bless

> ThnxI found Wellbutrin helped a great deal with anhedonia and lack of energy, not so much with primary depression. However, I also get a lot of anxiety/agitation and insomnia with it - I can only handle 75-100 mg a day without a fair whack of benzo's to compensate. At 300 mg/day, plus some GABA-type tranquilizers, I felt great but (my family assure me) was on the edge of classic mania.
YMMV - I think I am abnormally sensitive to any degree of NE stimulation, probably also fitting the new BP3 diagnosis. Many people find the activation tolerable, even pleasant, and at least one person commented here a while back that the agitation and insomnia side effects go away after a month or two, leaving just the "good" effects. I was only on it a 2-3 months, but I was also periodically self-medicating with this and that, which confused the picture.
