I am thrilled to find this board. It's encouraging to know I can discuss these issues with folks who "have been there and done that". I have been dealing with panic disorder and depression for many years and have taken many meds. For the most part, I have relied on Klonopin (.5 mg/2x). In general , I am extremely sensitive to meds other than benzos. My psychiatrist has started me on a very low dose of Lexapro (2.5 mg) just to see if I can tolerate it. So far, so good at this dose. He indicated I should take it with my biggest meal of the day, so we agreed that it would be breakfast. I have noticed that many folks take their dose in the evening/bedtime. Do you think I am taking this stuff at the right time? Does it matter?

I take mine in the AM, usually before 10:00. When I first started I moved time from morning to afternoon to evening and back to morning. I had trouble staying awake at first, falling asleep right after dinner, then I was hyper in the evenings, and sleepy in the mornings. It took several months before my body settled down and things got back to normal. My best advice is try to take it at a regular time, but if you have problems, move time around, trial and error seems to be the way.~~~8|8

Hi Dustin,
Since you take it in the morning, I would suggest that you continue to take at that time unless it becomes inconvenient for you. When I started taking Lex, I took it in the morning. But then noticed that Lexapro made me tired so I began taking it at night. Some people have the opposite experience...to start out with they take it at night, but find it has an energizing effect so they begin taking it in the morning.
So, like I said, wait until you know how it effects you and then decide what the best time would be for you to take your Lex. Hope this helps.

Dustin - I agree with Kathryn. I started taking 10 mg after breakfast, but found I couldn't wake up during the day! After several weeks I started taking it later and later each day - very gradually over about 10 days time - til I switched permanently to 10pm. I think I do better at that time. Good luck!

my pdoc wants me to take the lexapro, along with trazodone, at bedtime. she said it was because both drugs make you drowsy and help you sleep.
