What is the difference between BPI and BPII that I read in various threads here? Does it have to do with rapid cycling or are there BPI-rapid cyclers and BPII-rapid cyclers?

Toph,
Rapic cycling means (offically) that one experiences four or more cycles of highs and lows within a year. By highs and lows i mean depression and hypo/mania.
BP1 usually include episodes of delusions or hallucinations. BPII usually does not have true Manic episodes but has hypomanic ones. Then there is BP3 which is drug enduced manic episodes (if your being treated for depression and have episode) then there is cyclothymia which is a softer version of bipolor. Episodes are not as Extreme.
(anyone correct me if this isn't quite right.)

Thanks B2c. Looks like I have BpI as my manic episodes make me psychotic. The good news is that Li has controlled them for 21 years. In a few weeks I will begin trying Lamictal to see if it helps with dysthymia.
