I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced severe side effects from Effexor - especially blackouts. And would also like to know if your doctor warned you about them before you started taking the medication.

My doc gave me Effexor and said it was a better medication. I then took the liberty to research all the side effects and never took the damn medicine after learning some serious problems. But from what I understand, if 1000 patients during trial are treated with a drug and only 1 patient has side effects or even dies, that particular side effect must be publicly known. However, I never read anything regarding blackouts with effexor. Hope you're okay.

But this is exactly why I pose the question. There are plenty of people experiencing side effects from this drug that they have not been informed/warned about by their physician or their pharmacist, nor is it listed in the literature.

As almost all antidepressants can be associated with seizures, some more than others, you really should discuss with your doc the possiblity of whether your "blackouts" might possibly be induced seizure activity. If so, then a medication change might be in order.

Thanks for your input and concern; however, I believe that you all are reading into my question. I am merely looking to find if there is anyone on this list that has experienced blackouts as a result of taking this drug.
