I've been on lexapro now for 2 weeks for panic attacks, i started off with 10mgs but i got lots of negative side effects, mostly headaches which got to the point where i couldn't do anything but hold my head. after 3 days i droped down to 5mgs, still got a few headaches, i think i'm starting to feel the effects, i feel way more relaxed haven't had panic attacks in about a week, but i also feel very stoned. Simply i feel tired, relaxed but cloudy, also i can't seem to study, or work very well.
Anyways, just a general question, has anyone experimented with taking just 2.5 mgs of lexapra? Would anyone recommend it, or should i stay with the 5mg does right now?
I realize that normal doses are 10-20, but i feel like i might want to try to cut back even more. I never felt depressed and i never felt anxious i just had a lot of panic attacks in my car, ultimatly i don't want to screw any benefits that i have gotten so far.

I have been on Lex almost 1 year, currently at 20mg. I started at 5mg and in retrospect, I would have started off at 2.5mg if I had known how bad the side effects were going to be for me. I managed to get through it (first 2 weeks are the worst) and Lex has been very good for me. Hang in there and I wouldn't rush to go to a higher dose, your body will let you know when and if you need a higher dose.
Best of luck!~~~8|8

Hope this info helpes you.

Hi,
I am on 5mg for my 5th week now. Started at 2.5mg. Doc also wants me at 10mg but I think 5mg is working best for me. I had bad s/e's at first and they have mellowed as time has past. I have a theory that the severity of the side effects felt is in direct inverse correlation to the amount of Lexapro you need. The more sensitive you are to the medication the less you need for it to work. I am feeling pretty good at 5mg and hoping it continues. Best-Steve
