> My doctor just stopped by ECT treatments because I am having terrible memory problems. I don't really even remember why they started them. I am a medical transcriptionist (or I should say I was a medical transcriptionist, because I can't even begin to remember anything about my job - how to spell or what to do). I am still having terrible headaches every day since the treatments and no matter what I do they don't stop. I am beginning to think that I have made a big mistake. Did I?

I'm sorry you have to go through this. I am no expert on this, but I have heard that the memory problems from ECT can get better with time. How long ago was your last treatment?

I can sympathize with your memory loss AND your medical transcription. That's what I do for a living also. I'm taking amoxapine, and I don't know if it's the amoxapine or simply an imploded mind, but I suddenly completely forgot a function on the keyboard that I've been using every day for work for years. I sat there and couldn't remember it. Then my mind just froze and I couldn't think at all. That lasted about 15 seconds. Then I had to go lie down to regain my composure. Then, about an hour later, I could remember the function as usual. I guess it's something some of us must suffer in the management of our sanity (as well as some of those dictators!). Best of luck to you.

You'll get your memory back in six months. It comes back slowly.
