lexapro side effects coming back?? say it aint so!

Posted by mopey on January 14, 2004, at 16:09:42

Has anyone experienced this?

I'm on same dose and have been for about a month now.

Last night I woke up feeling extremely anxious and nauseous -- just as I did in the first couple of weeks of taking it. It was close to a full-blown panic attack, which I haven't had for many months.

Anyone else get a recurrence of side effects after 4 weeks on lexapro? please tell me they'll stop soon!!!

Thanks

Hi Mopey,

I've been on Lex for almost a month now. Two nights ago I woke up feeling VERY anxious. It was strange because I hadn't had that experience past my second week on Lex.

The good news is that since then I've slept better than I have in a very long time. I'm guessing that it was temporary and won't occur again. At least, I'm hoping that's the case. I ceretainly don't want to have another experience like I did two nights ago!

Good luck to you and I'm wishing you many peaceful nights of rest!

K.

Thanks for the encouragement, Kathryn!

In the middle of the night I felt I couldn't go through all that again, so after hearing your experience I have hopes that I'll sleep well.

I guess we're both at about the same stage.

Hang in there, and all the best.

Around the end of my 4th week I had anxiety attacks and increased depression, at the time I thought *Lex is making things WORSE and I should just give up on it*. Discussed w/pdoc and he raised my dose from 5mg to 10mg, and that helped me. Same started happening again end of 4th month, and doc raised to 20mg. Now I'm coming up on 1 year and I just went through the holidays (and 1yr anniv. of Mom-in-Law passing), and starting to feel *under the weather* again.

I'm hoping it's just that I haven't reached my *ideal* dose yet, and another increase will help again.

It's worth discussing w/your DR. But do NOT give up on Lex just yet!!! Please give it at least 6-8 weeks, it can take that long (for me it was 9 weeks) before you get results.

Hang in there!~~~8|8

Hey Ya'll.
Its so wild that you said that. I am on day 24 or 25. I had bad insomnia when I first got on and spacey feeling. The insomina went away after two weeks and the spacey feeling had started to go away as well. For the past three days I have not been able to sleep at all, been more anxious and even more depressed. Today I was walking though the grocery store and was so spaced out I could not even pick out bread. I have heard of a slump around the 4th week and then it picks up and "kicks" in. Heres hoping, just know your not alone!
Lexy
