side effects of lamital

Posted by kristylynn on January 4, 2004, at 13:58:43

I am in my third week of taking lamital and wellbutrin xl... I am up to 50 mg a day of lamital and 300 mg of the wellbutrin xl... I have a body itch that comes and goes.... Is this normal... And if so will it ever go away. Can you tan or get in the sun with these medicines? Can you take diet pills .? Can you drink? Are these two medicines a good combination... I was taking wellbutrin , depakoe and seroquel before my doctor switched me to this duo.... So I was just wondering was it a good move by my doctor and if so when will I start to feel the effects.... If anyone can try and answer my questions I would really apprecitate it... Thank you very much

hi,
i take lamictal (200mg) with zoloft (100mg), and for me that itchiness while increasing dosage did go away and is fine now. my skin seems more sensitive to the sun in general now, so you should probably put on a lot of sunscreen til you see you react. and oh man, drinking on lamictal had me falling all over the place (and i mean after like 2 beers); i think it just increased the dizziness side effect a LOT. as for diet pills, i don't know that those are ever a good idea, especially b/c you are on weight-neutral medications--sometimes wellbutrin even helps people lose. the lamictal has not caused me to gain any weight; if anything it's killed my appetite.
good luck!
liz

I believe it is Lamictal that you have to watch for a rash. I have heard that if you develop a rash, it is life threatening and needs attention at once. Not common, but apparently a concern.
