zoloft for phobia

Posted by gjacks on December 8, 2003, at 0:50:13

hey, i was wondering if anyone on here has ever used zoloft for phobias. i have blood injection injury phobia. i am seeing a pyschiatrist. he thought that i should use zoloft and xanax combined. i take xanax as needed, which has worked great for me. i have not had one panic attack since staring xanax. but it doesnt help much with the phobia. its not like i can avoid the situation since i am majoring in exercise science and nutrition. so we deal with alot of blood. kind of ironinc, the career i want to do the rest of my life is the one thing that i am terrified of. any advice on zoloft for phobias would be great. thanks everyone.

I don't have this problem, but the zoloft could only help. I can say this, I use to have a fear that I might have a fear of blood :) If that makes any sense? So I would be afraid to watch, and if I would, I'd start feeling panicky. While I was on Klonopin the fear magically disappeared. I don't know if that would help you or not, since you don't seem to get much relief from Xanax. It might be worth a shot, though.

Jon :)

Would you consiter changeing carrer? But there again that is running away from your problem, have you tryed cbt? i watched an episode on the tele just lastnight about ocd, this women had a fear of germs and her therapist made her open a letter and rub it all over her body and her sofa, then she sat her little son on the sofa, that cured her, i think it may help with you, give it a go along with some medication.. hope this is of some help to you.. you take care now xx
