I was reading about Eldepryl (selegiline) which is prescribed in the U.S. for Parkinsonism. I understand that it is an MAO-B inhibitor, but I can't find any information on whether it has any mood-lifting properties like Parnate or Nardil (which I know are MAO-A inhibitors). Anybody know the answer?

I am taking it now as an antidepressant. At doeses less than 20 mg (I think it's 20) it is selective. At higher doses, it's not selective and you have to follow the MAOI diet. It's supposed to have better antidepressant properties at the higher doses.
I'm only taking 10 mg. I think it's helpful. It's not perfect by any means and I've had plenty of horrible days while taking it. But the only good days that I've had in the last few months were when I was taking it. (Does that make sense?) And it has, on occasion, rapidly popped me out of a severly depressed non-functional state. I would try a higher dose, but I'm unwilling to take on the MAOI diet right now.
