SSRI least likely to cause emotional numbing

Posted by starflower on November 27, 2003, at 9:34:45

Any views on this? Was numb on Prozac, numb on Lexapro and fine on Paxil but can't be on that anymore - anyone had a similar experience and found success with Zoloft or Luvox?

Why can't you take Paxil anymore? Were you taking the regular version or the CR version?

This is a common side effect but at times it is a welcome effect. It is highly variable amoung people.
Some may have this side effect and some may not.
As a class the TCA's all tend to do this in most people. I do find it is dose related, however on some AD's the dose at which numbing happens, for me,
is still not high enough to treat the depression.

It pooped out after 18 months and then I had the most horrific withdrawal - took me 6 months to get off it so I COULD go back on it but would be really reluctant to do so. Was a pretty good drug for the first year or so tho.
