question regarding seroquel 5ht1a

Posted by linkadge on October 30, 2003, at 13:36:10

On many pages I see seroquel listed as a 5ht1a antagonist. By my understanding this would not be good for depression. Does this mean 5ht1a autoreceptors post synaptic receptors.

Ie I was with the understanding that elevated serotonin activity at the 5ht1a receptor was responsible for antidepressant activity.

Can someone perhaps clarify this for me. Trazodone is also listed as a 5ht1a antagonist.

Thanks
