switching from Remeron to Effexor

Posted by jojo2 on October 22, 2003, at 15:50:23

Has anyone tried to switch from Remeron to Effexor? I am currently taking 15 mg of Remeron but I still have many symptoms of depression. I tried 30 mg per day but the side effects were pretty bad (I gained 5 pounds in 5 days). My doctor has recommended switching to 75 mg Effexor-XR per day. She says that I can stop the Remeron and go right on a half dose of effexor for 2 weeks and then to a full dose (75 mg). I am scared of the possible side effects of Effexor and especially scared of the withdrawal effects if I start taking it and then have to quit.

Listen and think on this: dont exchange them. Take Effexor toguether with Remeron. Adjusts the dosages and if you do it, in less than one month you begin it, you will remeber it! 150mg wellbutrinSR can halp(just an option, ) but take E+R and you fell it work.Side effects? same as both alone butthoguether, NOTHHING toxing.
ok? RVP

Don't let Effexor withdrawal effects keep you from trying it. It works great for me at 150 mg, but I do have the usual sexual side effects.

Thanks. I have decided to try the Effexor at least for 1 month. If the side effects are too bad I will go back on Remeron.
