Hello, I have weaned myself off of Paxil for the past 2 weeks, and haven't touched it for 6 days. I've had terrible withdrawal, even though I'd only taken it for 6 weeks (the side effects never stopped so I thought I'd get off of it).
Now I'm starting to feel better and have started Lexapro as of today. I'm starting on 5 mg, then going up to 10mg after 8 days on 5. Does anyone have advice for good times to take the medication? I know Paxil made me very tired and lethargic, so I'm thinking Lexapro may do the same. Also, does anyone know how long it takes to kick in? I guess any general info on Lexapro (real consumer feedback, not the bull$hit the drug company feeds you) would be much appreciated. I'm taking it for PTSD and anxiety disorder. THANKS!!

I was on paxil for some time. about a year. played hell with me. weight gain, no sex, distracted as well as feeling angry and depatched for my family and friends. Became more depressed. Dr. switched me to lexapro. at 20 mg what this helped with was the withdrawal from paxil, then took the max of 50 I think it made it a little less severe. Anyway I am now on Wellbrutrin 100sr because the lexapro didnt do the trick either. they usually take about 4weeks or so. Hope you have good luck with the lexapro.. it did bring back a sex drive, so that was one benefit and I did lose alot of weight. so good luck. jeanne

I had bad se's, but all did go away, it took me 9 wks. before I felt Lex was working for me. I moved around on time of day to take it, started in the mornings, moved to afternoon, then evening, now back to mornings again....it's a trial and error thing to find what's best for you.
Good Luck!~~~8|8
