I was on 25 mg of Paxil CR for 5 months, and it worked very well to alleviate panic attacks and generalized anxiety. However, one side effect was delayed orgasm during sex. My doctor recently recommended that I swtich to Lexapro. He said that it would treat panic attacks and generalized anxiety as well as Paxil but with less sexual side effects. I am currently weaning off of Paxil and starting to take 10 mg of Lexapro.
For those who have swtiched from Paxil to Lexapro: 1.) What have the results been on treating anxiety or panic attacks? 2.) Were sexual side effects improved?

I was on Paxil and then switched to Lex for depression. Paxil made into a complete zombie and left me feeling drugged, numb and more depressed. Lex killed my stomach, so I went to something else. I have a friend on Paxil for anxiety/depression, and he likes it quite a bit (except for the same sexual response problems you stated). He is also hooked on Xanax so that is a compounded problem. May I suggest Effexor. Another male friend is on it for bad anxiety and it works wonders for him in that area except, again, he complains of delayed and/or dulled sexual response at higher doses. Good luck in finding something that works for you.
