My daughter's PDoc has just prescribed her two 25 mg seroquel tabs before bedtime for her anxiety/ADHD along with One 20 mg Paxil tab. She has had no side effects from any of her meds and is doing really well. She also takes 36 mg of concerta during the daytime. Is this too much medication for her though or should I trust her Pdoc.

In reply to How safe is seroquel for kids, posted by Been-There on September 26, 2003, at 10:35:11
I would say this is an excessive amount
unless her symptoms were severe and/or unrelenting. How old is your daughter?
First of all Seroquel is not indicated for either anxiety or ADD. In fact Seroquel would not help attention, unless there is an underlying schizophrenic disorder. There are much safer medications to use for anxiety.I would definately get a second opinion, whenever dealing with kids, and medications such
as this.20 mg of Paxil is used for major depressive disorder. And it is can be very difficult to discontinue if taken for a while.
I don't mean to scare you in the least but when dealing with children one should use medications minimally and as a last resort. A good doctor can minimalize medications and keep symptoms under controll. Best of luck.
