The FDA just approved Wellbutrin XL on August 29th, 2003.

There's commercials for this on TV already, so yes (nm)

Sorry to intrude (I realize the message was directed at gal) :-).

The XL formulation of Wellbutrin is a once-daily formulation, whilst Wellbutrin SR is twice-daily. Wellbutrin IR is usually taken three times daily.

I must say I have to commend GlaxoSmithKline for their attempts to further improve their product.

Thanks! :) (nm) » Ame Sans Vie

I agree, too, I have to commend GlaxoSmithKline for their attempts to further improve their product.

GSK only "improved" this med because the patent on the parent compound is up... they simply reformulated the coating allowing it to be released at a slower rate than wellbutrin SR.

It is convenient, but, in my opinion, hardly an improvement. GSK could have invested the millions spent on repackaging and remarketing this compound on research and development of newer compounds.
