Well, I have an appt with the shrink tomorrow and I am trying to decide what I would like to tell him.
Basically, I hate the effexor xr that I am taking and I need to switch to something else. Unfortunatley, I am running out of options.
I am already taking Wellbutrin SR (300mgs/day). I took Serzone for a while but it eventually pooped out at the maximum dosage. Zoloft made me gain a ton of weight, killed my libido, and made me very tired (that's when I started taking the wellbutrin too). Lexapro also pooped out eventually at the maximum dosage. This effexor is giving me terrible headaches and jaw/face pain. I'm wondering about trying prozac or paxil, but of course I've heard bad things about both of those. I could go back on the zoloft because at least it did work well for my depression. Any ideas??

That's the same way I feel, you know I take the zoloft because it works, when I had gained about 30lbs, my mom took notice and I told her that at least it worked and I wasn't hyperventing or having alot of panic attacks and not so depressed but now I have gained alot of weight and have been asking about fastin(phentermine)because a diet doc prescribed it but I don't know about taking it with zoloft and xanax. She said it was okay, but I'm still a little paranoid about it because some people say it's okay and others not.

Thanks, though.

I'm in the same boat. I have done really well on Wellbutrin but it has worn off now. I just went through the effexor detox (I recommend benedryl to lessen those symptoms when you go off). Effexor made me gain weight and sleep all the time. All of the seratonin acting meds seem to destroy any sexual desires or abilities I have. Basically I dont like SSRI's or anything like them.
The only meds I do well on are dopaminergic, but thats another story.
If you did well on Zoloft, maybe you should try good ol' prozac.
I found them to be very similar (Ive tried both). Prozac wasnt the worst SSRI I have tried, so maybe you will aatually like it
When the serzone worked, did you like the effects?

Yes. The only bad thing was that it made me tired. On the positive side, it also reduced my appetite.
My new dr doesn't like Serzone, though, because they have recently found that it can be bad for your liver.

Celexa contains a mixture of 2 compounds....1 is the active drug and the other is not. Lexapro is the single isolated drug compound.
I ended up doing Wellbutrin & Prozac. We'll see how that goes. Right now I am suffering from Effexor withdrawl.
