Trazodone and heavy limbs??

Posted by think2much on August 18, 2003, at 11:30:37

The doc gave me 75mg trazodone, to be increased to 150mg, for depression. After reading on this board that it is very sedating, I took 50mg for the first week to see how I got used to it. It seemed to brighten me up, but as the week went on my limbs became heavier and heavier during the day. I could barely lift my foot to put a sock on, and when I sat down I could hardly get up.
It was so annoying that I stopped taking the drug. But would these heavy limb side effects disappear in a couple of weeks? I was fearful to take any more in case I couldn't even get out of bed as time went on!
Have you had this effect?
Thanks for any feedback!

I have this too with Trazodone. I only take it as needed for sleep, so I never really have a chance to get used to it. I get the feeling within a couple of hours of taking the med.

I am sure that with continued use, it will go away. This is the case with most side effects.

Hi, I suggest you take other SSRIs for depression eg. generic prozac and take only 25mg - 50mg of trazodone for sleep.

I used to take 50mg of trazodone for sleep. Now I take only 25mg. Sometimes if I'm too tired, I don't take it at all.

Best regards,
freedom.
