research study - need advice

Posted by dave1 on August 12, 2003, at 20:15:03

HI,

Last summer I was supposed to take part in a pilot research study, but I backed out at the last minute because I was afraid. Now they are doing the same study somewhere else and I want to do it, but I'm afraid the doctor from the first study will talk with the doctor in the new study and ruin my chances of getting in because the studies are all run under the same auspices. Apparently, they are going to do a bigger a study in the future because the pilot results are good. My question, should I try to get in the pilot study now and not worry about the doctor from the first study or should I let things cool off and wait for the bigger study.

Thanks,

Dave

It's really common for people to back out of studies at the last minute for a variety of reasons- fear probably being #1. If you want to do this study I wouldn't worry too much about the original doc, they'll just be happy to have you because they are reimbursed by whatever pharmaceutical co. sponsoring it per body brought in. (hope that didn't come across as too cynical) best of luck- judy
