Well I'm back on the Geodon as of May 27th. I was on this last year but had to stop taking it because of the VERY, VERY bad uncontrollable movements. I just couldn't be still. However I was better then I had ever been all my life !
I'm bipolar/mixed and can not take A/D's. I don't know if I'm just so desperate that I would try this again or if I'm fooling myself thinking I want get the bad side effects this time. I'm not feeling better yet. I don't remember how long it took before I felt good the last time. I also had all this energy, which I liked and I have none now. Hoping this effect will kick in soon ! I just want to sleep, I'm very tired feeling, but I wanted to sleep and felt tired before going on the Geodon. This is probably the main reason for me wanting to try this again, I can't stand this tired feeling and not wanted to do anything. I started on 20mg of the Geodon last time and had to stop on 40mg. I'm on the 20mg again, with my fingers crossed !
Anyone else on Geogon ? Or have past experience with it ?

I'm on 120 mg/day of Geodon and it works pretty well for my symptoms. It is possible that I have bipolar disorder (my diagnosis is uncertain). How severe is your mania? Do you have psychotic symptoms? I do, but I sometimes wonder if a good dose of lithium might work like Geodon does. I get really uncontrollable and stay awake for weeks at a time, then start getting delusional.
I think it is definitely preferable to take a mood stabilizer like Depakote or lithium than an antipsychotic, atypical or not. Have you tried those?
Geodon hasn't done anything for my depression, so I have to take an antidepressant also. Taking an antidepressant without a mood stabilizing agent is a disaster for me. They make me euphoric and even more psychotic than usual. I seem to tolerate the antidepressant well with Geodon, though.
It sounds like you have EPS (akathisia). I take Cogentin to help with a fairly serious tremor. It works great, and also relieves the tenseness from Geodon.

xjs7 - Thanks for replay
I am on a mood stabilizer, I also took the Cogentin last time to stop the uncontrollable movements but it did not work for me.
I have hallucinations so I have to take a antipsychotic med, I'm on 150mg of Seroquel.
Like I said before, I can't take antidepressant, and I've tried tons of them...UGH, what I've been through, what we've all been through ! . But I did get good, no GREAT help from the Geodon minus the akathisia. I wasn't on the Seroquel last time I took this so I'm not sure how that is/will effect the out come this time. Oh, I also have to take a sleeping med EVERY night so I can sleep. I know what you mean about the not sleeping thing, I would never sleep with out it. Sometimes I don't take it to see if I can sleep but I can't, I'm up like last night when I posted the first message till 2/3 in the morning then I finally take the sleeping med to get some sleep !
This is the end of the thread.
