Hi! Hoping I can post this here. I just started Ritalin today for ADD. I had taken Strattera for 6 days and it was awful...made me terribly irritable and I could not handle it. I am starting at 20mgs twice a day. Can anyone tell me what the usual dosing is and how far apart I should take my doses? I imagine I will end up at more than 20 mgs, but it is a start. Not to much effect today..... a little tired... a little more patience than normal. Nothing big. Thanks for your help.

I remember a year ago when I first tried Ritalin. It was like someone had turned a lightbulb on in my head that I never knew I had! And I'm not even referring to the initial euphoria I had the first day I took it (anyone else get that? Man did I feel high!)

Good luck with the ritalin and hang in there. Patience is one of those virtues we don't always have with ADD but it's worth it when it comes to meds. Are you on short acting Ritalin? If so it seems like you're taking it very spread out. I currently am starting on Strattera, it's been about 6 weeks and I'm finally up to 80 mg as of yesterday so I'll be going off the Concerta. Before concerta I took 20 mg every 4 hours approximately depending on what I was doing and if I needed it. If you're on short acting I would definitely encourage you to ask your doctor about the long acting meds. Concerta was a joy for me after having to take meds every four hours and the ups and downs of short acting Ritalin. Strattera should be even better once I get past the side effects. Good luck.
