I've been taking these for about 2 months now. I'm currently at 20mg lex/day and 4mg Risp/day.
The lexapro is for depression and the Risp. for paranoia (auditory hallucinations etc). In general I find that I'm somewhat jumpy and my depression hasn't really
let up any from what I can tell. My apathy seems to have grown-- if that's possible-- and while I love to read, I now find myself unable to concentrate long
enough on any one book for more than a few pages. This leaves me with a few pages read in a whole lot of books, but I don't know if this is
from the depression or from the drugs and I'm wondering if others have experienced something akin to lethargy and apathy but somehow more insidious than these while on
either of these medications? I don't see a doctor again for slightly more than 2 weeks-- is another anti-depressant the course to take? Or another anti-psychotic? Both? Neither?
Any answers would be appreciated.

Have you ever heard of Tardive Dyskinesia? It is a permanent side effect from the use of Neuroleptics such as Respirdal. My 5 year old daughter has this drug induced syndrome. Do yourself a favor and research the serious side effects of neuroleptics and the damage that they can do to your brain. Any and all neuroleptics can and do cause Tardive Dyskinesia (TD). TD is a movement disorder and this may be why your are having the feelings that you are at the present time. The longer you take any one given neuroleptic the more chance you have of developing TD. www.breggin.com or any internet search engine would be of value to you to check out these and the many other side effects that come along with the use of neuroleptics. Don't let your doctor give you some BS about this stuff. It is real and it does happen. A book that might be of interest to you is a book by DR. Breggin and it is called Your Drug May Be Your Problem. Hope this helps. Don't stop taking any medication until you have talked it over with your doctor. You can't just stop taking this stuff. You must be weaned off of it so your system does not go into mayem. Good Luck!

I am on celexa and risperdal and find that both make it more difficult for me to concentrate. In fact, I had to go on adderall to counteract their effects. I think the risperdal is worse than the celexa. I had to add Adderall to be able to focus. My doctor told me that Abilify and Seroquel are not as bad on concentration as risperdal so maybe you can change your AP. I want to switch to abilify but now is not a good time. Good luck, babs
