No. I have been taking it in the morning and evening, with meals. No sleep problems from it.

Although I don't expereinece sleep problems,
some do. It can significantly raise dopamine
levels (which for some can actually improve sleep). If it does give you insommnia take
devided doses morn and evening.Don't let the fact that it causes insommnia (for some) deture you from giving it a full trial.
Adjust doeses if needed, and timing if needed.

Hi
I've just started taking fish oil... I believe this question has been asked a thousand times but... what's the recommended dose for it to be effective for depression? And how long does it take for it to kick in?
Best wishes,
Ric

Hi Ric,Fish oil will start to kick in about a couple of weeks. I am taking cod liver oil capsules but I can't recommend a particular brand, because the availability sometimes matters. Manufacturer recommended dosage could be as a dietary supplement, and to treat a specific condition like depression or dysphoria, we will have to take additional amounts. But be careful when doing so, as many in this board have been expressing their concern over the high intake of vitamins. Cod liver oil is enriched with vitamins. Better ask a dietician about this, and make sure you are getting sufficient fish oil to feed up your brain.
Thanks for reading,
HIBA

It's not a big thing to mention, HIBA, but cod liver oil isn't "enriched" with vitamins - it's a *source* of vitamin A &D. Fat soluble vitamins (like A & D) are stored in an animal's liver (including our own).
It was from eating their sled dogs' livers in desperation that led to the deaths of Scott & many of his party (from the failed South Pole expedition). Fish that live in cold waters have the highest concentration of vitamins A & D in their livers. Halibut is used for most A & D supplements. Shark liver is even higher. Some of the highest concentrations are found in polar bears - at the top of the food chain in cold climes.
This is the end of the thread.
