HELP- Fired

Posted by lereto on February 13, 2003, at 11:07:34

I have long term, chronic depression, anxiety and ADHD. I started Effexor SR several months ago, and coincidentally, or concurrently, experienced problems at work that may be said to be related to disinhibition and mental confusion and absent-mindedness. I asked for the chance to work with my doctor to tweak my meds, but they fired me anyway (and this is a mental health agency!). I have been told by 2 attorneys I may have an ADA claim, I am wondering, anybody else experience similar symptoms... I like what the effexor does for my anxiety...it's practically non-existent, but it's almost too non-existent, if that makes sense. Thanks.

I am so sorry for you and your situation. Jeezz..don't these people get it! I also worked in a social service agency, and was *fired* after I revealed my mental illness and asked for some *room*.

I know what you are saying about the Effexor. It is a very *difficult* med for me...and at sometimes can be amazing, and others seems to make more problems.

Pursue legal action if you can...and in that time, if possible, emphasize to your doctor your medications *need* fixing, and maybe you need an additional medication or something like that.

It all sounds so familiar to me...and I hope you can get through it ok. Heck, if you had broken your back, would they have been so quick to judgement? Likely not.

All the best for you...and you are certainly not alone my friend. Please keep posting on your situatiuon.

Best wishes...
Jay
