Hi all
i really need to ask if there are any women out there like me. i suffer from bipolar 2. i've also had bad OCD and am on medication. Effexor around 100 and wellbutrin 150 daily. my problem is that whatever drug i am on at whatever does, during pmt i become so severly depressed that i get the urge to harm myself and sometimes become psychotic seeing myself as a monster in the mirror. So far, having tried most medications including mood stabalizers NOTHING improves this. so for around 10 days a month i am really impaired and do extremely irrational things- like quit my job or pick fights etc.
Has anyone had any luck with any hormonal treatments like the pill or thyroid hormones. i am really desperate so any comments would be really appreciated. thank u so muck
take care all
good luck
love delna

I agree that PMS and the changes in hormone levels can really do a number on people w/o MI, never mind those with it. I really do think birth control pills help, try them for 3 months and see if you feel a change- it definitely helps with cramping, etc. I worry that you are on ADs and not any mood stabilizers- that can be really disruptive in bipolar disorder. best of luck-judy
