I've seen it posted that some people use amphetamines with an MAOI. It's contraindicated, but so are many things that people have tried successfully. I'm wondering if it's okay to take Methylin (Ritalin) or Methylphenidate with Parnate. Not necessarily regularly, but as needed. Has anyone tried this combo?

Like you said, parnate and amphetamines or ritalin (its not an amphetamine but has similar end effect, Im sure you know) are contradicted but Ive heard of several people combining them and all turned out fine, Ive never heard anyone report any sort of reaction. although you have to wonder why they are contradicted. All I can say is try a low dose to start and work your way up.

I took dexedrine w/parnate w/o any problems. But it can be very dangerous - even lethal (can induce a hypertensive crisis). If you do try it, you should make sure you check w/your doc, & keep an eye on blood pressure, etc.Check out depressioncentral.com - if I remember correctly, dr. Ivan has something on how he's used it successfully in some treatment resistant cases.

Thanks for the info!
