Hi Denise,
A med party? I think your just after my xanax?!

Seriously though, somatic means physical in terms of anxiety, ie shaking trembling etc.
Inderal also known as propanolol extended release is very good, if not excellent for somatic anxiety but absolutely useless for psychic, that is worrying , fear etc.
Its a pity your doc wont give you a couple of xanax to try a la jensen, it might give an important clue as to where your chemistry is mucked up.

Hi Glenn,

Seems like you and I are the only ones on this board who are from the UK.

Where abouts are you from? Don't worry I'm not after your xanax just wondered if you've managed to find any good psychiatrists in your area (any like Dr Martin Jensen).

The three I've seen on the National Health didn't seem much good, infact they seemed more depressed, flat and empty than me. I suppose that's not really suprising given the job they do.

I have found one good private psychiatrist who at least seems passionate about what he does if a bit arrogant.

From what you said, yes my symtoms are somatic although I don't experience any trembling. I sometimes get a sort of suffocated feeling, pains in my spine, feelings of not being part of this world and racing thoughts for no apparent reason.

I'm starting to think nothing will work. Up until a few years ago SSRIs and Tricyclics used to work so well and I can't help pining, hankering for the feeling that they used to give me.

Denise
