drowsy as hell on lamictal! :(

Posted by green tea on October 26, 2002, at 12:28:38

hello everyone :) i just moved up to 25 mg of lamictal this mondy and i CANNOT wake up in the morning!! it's really bad..i've missed both of my morning classes for the past two weeks..and even when i don't have class, i can't seem to get up before 12 p.m. this is really interfering with my studying..i like to wake up at 8:30 a.m. or 9 a.m. at the latest to study. and i know this is the lamictal..i can't even get up for my 11:30 a.m. class. i mean, that is pretty bad. has anyoneelse had similar problems with lamictal? i'm wondering if it'll get worse when my dosage gets higher. or do these side effects generally go away?? thanks!

I'm currently having the same problems you're having with getting up in the morning. I'm on several meds, and Lamictal is one of them.

Here is something you guys might find interesting. Since reaching 25mg of lamictal I have had the most amazing energy. I only need about 4-5 hours of sleep as opposed to 7,8,9..
The bad part, wierd freaky dreams and horrible body aches. My old hernia sugery muscles are hurting as bad as they were 3 weeks after the operation and it's been 1-1/2 years. I keep popping ibuprofen for relief. I think it's time to take a break from the Ibuprofen to give my liver, (or is it kidneys?) a rest.

Does anyone NOT have problems getting up in the morning? I am so friggin' tired and can't just let down!! Lamictal has given me extra energy during the day for sure, has not helped my anxiety but has lifted me out of a bleak desperate depression. It's hard to wind down at night and waking up is sheer hell, but after taking a shower and letting the hot water pound out the lethargy I'm OK. Sure wish the circadian rhythms would get in sync, tho. Sure wish I could get a good decent *undrugged* night's sleep, just drift off and trust that things will be OK. Maybe this lack of rest and ease is our problem and our bodies are saying something?
