Dr. then decided to drop back to 37.5 for one week and then told me to stop taking them. I've had nothing but problems with this med. If there was a side effect to this med, I've had it!! I don't know what to do. I'm back to taking 37.5mg in the a.m. I'm still having some of the side affects, but not as bad as they were before. My body is EXTREMELY sensitive to different things, such as new meds, and caffine. I would like to know how long others had these side effects, seeing as how I'm a sophmore in college, this effexor is affecting everything, class, my roomate, my bf, my grades.

try it combined with something else ... I had pretty good luck adding effexor onto a regular SSRI (like prozac) ... one then needs a much lower dose of the effexor.
there's lots more info on this site (archives?) about combining effexor (venlafaxine) with other meds.
sorry so curt, it's way past my bedtime.

Thanks! I don't know about adding another med. to effexor. my dr. said it would be best if I got off of effexor. I have been having so much trouble with this med, I won't recommend it to others. It's great if it works for you, it just didn't and still doesn't for me.

I took Medusa's advice and took prozac, it helped miraculously. I don't mind taking another medication because its enabled me to cut down on the Effexor by two thirds, and for me Effexor felt like my entire system was being poisoned.
Prozac alone (I took it before) felt NOTHING like that.
I'm hoping with this I'll be able to get rid of the effexor altogether much more quickly
