Hi, I am new to this and really would like so info from anyone who may be able to share with me. I have been on Celexa since April 2002 and I have gained approx 20 pounds of very much unwanted weight. I have no energy & I have vivid Nightmares. I decided to stop taking Celexa & after 3 days on not taking it started walking in my sleep. Went back on it & still walk in my sleep. now the doc is putting my on remeron 30mgs at night. 2nght will be first dosage. should I try it or not?

You have some options.
You can try a reduced dose,
say 10 mg of Celexa, or
try the Remeron,
30 mg is a too high starting dose
in my opinion. I would try half
a tablet for a week it is very sedating. It seems to me that your sleepwalking
problem is independant of your depression,
as this is not a normal side affect.
The only reason remeron might help
is that it is very sedating. How severe
is your sleep walking ?Linkadge

Remeron is more sedating at lower doses, 15 mg for example. To get over the sedation (due to increase histamines) you need to go up to 30 or 45 mg per day. The stimulant effect is due to the increase of noadrenaline at the higher doses. It is a non-linear drug, i.e., it gives different effects at different doses.
This is the end of the thread.
