Ritalin LA

Posted by snood on October 11, 2002, at 16:58:54

Is anyone on this form of ritalin? It is a slow release form, LA stands for long acting. I'm on 20 mg, which from all the research I've done online is equal to 10 mgs of ordinary ritalin. It seems to help, but not alot. I'm only a little more focused and alert, but I feel like I may benefit from in increase from 20mg to 30mg. Anyone have any suggestions? My pharmacist had never heard of Ritalin LA, and had to order it, so it is relatively new and I can't seem to find much info on it, or at least not as much info as, say, effexor, zoloft, etc.

Thanks!

Yeah, I am taking it in the afternoons. It is 10mg of Ritalin released right away, with a tinytimepill (Contac-coldmedicine-like) release of the 2nd 10mg dose approx. 4hrs. later. VERY similar to Dexedrine spansules. After talking with my pharmacist I am going to suggest to my pdoc of switching to 5mg of generic (immediate release) methylphenidate 4x daily (while I am at work), to replace the LA version at about 1/4 the cost.
