Just wondering if anyone here has tried the homeopathic route for help with depression. I just started, after a specific doctor (MD) in my area was recommended highly.
Nothing else has worked for me for the past year and a half. And I don't have to change any ADs, or any other meds in my diet for now; I can decide to lower my doses if it feels that the homeopathic stuff is taking effect. Tests turned out that I have way too many metals, as well as viruses in my system and too low estrogen (premetapausal), as well as thyroid definciency.
Anyone else go down this route, or thinking about it?

Unfortunately, the homeopathic remedies are vague and have not been helpful at all for me. I don't want to disillusion you, but you may want to look at this site. I spent a lot of $$$ with two different homeopaths and was disappointed. Go to http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/homeo.html

I too went to see a homeopath and the substance they gave me didn't help at all (although admittedly I didn't give it much of a chance) I think the substance was some sort of bark off a tree.
Personally If I were you I wouldn't waste my money. I think it's one of those things which will only work "if you think it will work" I hear that phrase so often.

Thanks Joy and Denise for your feedback. So far in my life, I have not been affected by positive placebos, so I believe that if I show improvement, it it will be real.
On the other hand, the possibility that it will work for me does seem less than minimal. I'll give it 8 weeks and drop it if I feel no improvement.
Did anything end up working for either of you?
I've been stuck in a horrible depression for over a year and a half with over 20 drug trials (including combinations). Thanks again.

Hi Shellie,
For myself I found Prozac [40 mgs daily] and Xanax as needed to help me. Paxil worked for me but I came off it because of the side effects [I was always hungry]. I am now off the Prozac and just take Xanax as needed, and for insomnia [with Trazodone sometimes]. I had tried many meds too, including Zoloft, Serzone, and Celexa. Xanax has been wonderful for anxiety attacks for me; I barely ever have them now since I de-stressed my life. I hope you find the right med[s]. I don't mean to be negative about the homeopathic remedies, but honestly through my lifetime I have spent a fortune trying the 'natural' approach to everything, and it's cost me alot of $$$ with poor results [actually no results mostly].
Regards,
Joy
