ValerianRoot no good!How about Imovane(zopiclone)?

Posted by turalizz on August 8, 2002, at 2:25:17

Valerian Root made me sleepy, but failed to help me fall asleep. I took two of them last night, but it didn't work either, besides I felt very drowsy in the morning.
I am having trouble falling asleep only. I guess I will go back to 25 - 50 mg trazodone, or 0.25 mg alprazolam if trazodone fails.

How about Imovane(zopiclone)? I think it is somehow similar to Ambien or Sonata. Has anyone tried it? Does it cause morning drowsiness, amnesia etc.?

Xanax is OK to put me asleep when trazodone fails, but I don't like to take it because of its long half life.

thanks,

cem

hi Cem... my experience with Imovane has
been that it is certainly not all that
effective in GETTING me to sleep, however
once asleep, I have slept relatively well
through the night when using it.

When it has been effective for me, I have
had to be dilligent enough to go to bed
about half an hour to an hour after talking
it and use some relaxation techniques to
get myself to sleep. Once asleep I do sleep
well.

As far as side effects, I did not find any
morning hangover, but it did leave a very
unpleasant metal taste in my mouth.

Strangely, because I seen to be resistant to many meds except in higher doses, I can use Gravol (dimenhydrinate - for travel sickness) to help me sleep. Side effects & problems associated with it are very low so it's a relatively safe drug. Every night about 2 hours before I wish to sleep, I take 2 50 mg tablets & fall asleep easily & stay asleep. No groggy feeling in the morning & no tolerance build up as alprazolam can do to me.

It's cheap & OTC. Won't necessarily work for every one but it's worth a shot. You'd only be out a couple of dollars at most. It's safe enough that it's even recommended for children as young as two.

Is Imovane (zopiclone) available in the US?
