I have been on many diff. meds. I'm tired of being on them I know I need them, but the meds alone are driving me crazy. I'm tired of the weight gain, at first when I started the AD's I lost weight and I was taking zoloft. I was pleased and then they added serqueal(SP). I really piled on some pounds and ever since then I've had nothing but problems with weight. I've heard it said in here many time that the weight is more depressing than the depression well it had to it. I don't even want to go out of my house and have never had this low of self-esteem before. Well I probably have but man I feel terrible. Sorry got off of the subject, anyway I have started back on the zoloft which I take 50mgs in the am, wellbutrin 150mg at dinner, and then trazodone at bedtime. I also have never been on some many meds at one time. Would that cause weight gain? I'm also not motivated at all to do anything. Does anyone have any experience with this combo or just a suggestion? Please help. I think my whole problem with meds is my brother was schizo (SP) he commited suicide in Feb. and of course that's bothering me. So I know I need something to help but I can't stand to be like this anymore. Please help.

Debbie - Trazodone is great for sleep and is also great for anxiety. But I'm wondering if it's the Trazodone that makes you feel like not doing anything during the day.
Do you feel more energetic at night than you do during the day? If so, maybe you should ask your doctor about taking the Wellbutrin in the morning with the Zoloft instead of in the evening.
Otherwise, ask your doctor if he thinks that the Trazodone might be taking away energy. Maybe he would switch you to Ambien for sleep.

That's a hard question. It is an awful lot of meds so it starts to be hard to know what would help. There are a lot of possible changes to make that could really increase your motivation and energy.
If you could explain some more about what caused you to start on each one, and how long you have been on the current dose of it, that would help a lot.
If your brother was schizophrenic, then you are likely to be at risk for it, but have you actually had problems with thinking odd thoughts, voices etc or is the seroquel for sleep or depression? There are alternative drugs to seroquel.
And last, what other drugs have you been on and why did you like them or not? Past responses will often help predict responses to other meds.

Thanks for your respone! Well I have been on or have tried alot of meds. I started with zoloft I was on that for a year at 50mg increasing to 100mg. Then started having trouble sleeping so the dr put me on seaqueal all of this is from depression. Then I started gaining weight thought it was because of the zoloft, but stopped the zoloft started on celexa. Which didn't do anything for depression. Then started back on the zoloft, which zoloft has helped alot I'm just so scared of the weight gain I'm scared to take anything. But then when I stop it I get suicidal over again. I have never heard voices or anything like that just severe depression. So for a couple years I've been going off and back on my zoloft up to 200mg. Then I quit all together and started on effexor and only got up to 75 mg felt horrible on it. went back down to the 37.5 mg and that didn't cut it either. So I started, saturday with the cocktail of 50mg of zoloft for this week rasing that up to 150 in three. Wellbutrin 150mg at dinner and 25mg of trazodone at bed. I have tried alot of other meds in between stopping my zoloft. Most of them didn't work like prozac very irritable, wellbutrin did that at first too. I'm hoping it doesn't this time. I've read here and the dr said it should counter act the bad side effects of the zoloft. Trazodone just for sleeping. I am going to take the suggestion of Bill taking the wellbutrin in the am with zoloft just to see if I feel any better. Sorry for not telling all I just start typing and go off all subjects. I'm in terrible shape right now with my mind, body, and soul. I hope someone can make a suggestion. Thanks for your respone kate.

I have tried that and I took it one time. I got scared of gaining weight, some people were telling me how much weight they gained on it. Also it didn't help me with getting up that next day. I'm really scared to take anything. Especially the ones that even mention weight gain. I know everyone different, but the fear of getting any fatter is to much to even think about. I did take BillL's advice about taking the wellbutrin in the morning. Hopefull that helps! What do you take? Have you lost or gained?

I've taken about 20 things altogether, in the past mostly. I'm not having major depression at the moment. Also anxiety has been a problem in the past but not right now. Right now I'm I'm tapering off of klonopin and also take Ritalin (or Adderall sometimes) for Attention Deficit Disorder. And I take the birth control pill which stabilizes my hormones (which were out of whack with menopause starting). So I'm feeling really good, luckily, right now.
Weight gain can definitely be a problem with Remeron if you aren't taking anything else with it that gets you up and moving.
Bill's idea about taking the Wellbutrin in the morning may really help. You might be able to increase the dose of Wellbutrin as well as time goes by, which would help with energy.
As time goes by if you are sleeping better you may also want to try decreasing either the Seroquel or the trazodone.
The two things that promote weight loss, are the stimulants like Adderall, and Topomax, which is used to smooth out moods. Stimulants would normally only be prescribed if you had problems with attention and concentration (more than that created by depression). There is a quiz at www.mindfixers.com that helped me figure out that it was a problem for me. I have been on some of the mood stabilizer drugs in the past but they didn't make me much less moody. I've never personally tried Topomax and don't know if it would even be an option for you or not.
Since you are on such a big combination of things it might be worth it to get a second opinion from another psychiatrist. Different doctors will have very different ideas about how to approach the same initial symptoms.
For example, if Wellbutrin wakes you up and energizes you, you might do well on something like Remeron plus Wellbutrin. Neither by itself is right but it might be that the bad effects cancel eachother. Or Topomax at night and Zoloft in the morning. It seems like there are a lot of possibilities.
Definitely talk to your current doctor about the weight concern: often unless we really put a foot down we just end up getting their standard menu.
Hope you feel more energetic soon. -- kate
